Key Fob & Car Key Programming in Englewood, CO

Need a spare key, a new remote or a smart key that actually starts your car? eForce Automotive Service handles key fob programming and car key programming for most makes at our shop near Littleton and Sheridan. If you've searched for key fob programming near me or car key programming near me in the south Denver area, we can cut, program and test the key in one visit — from basic transponder keys to push-to-start smart keys. We're an auto electrical and programming shop, so we work with your car's immobilizer and modules directly, not just the key.

Key services

Key fob programming

Remote fobs that lock, unlock and open the trunk must be paired with your car. We program new and replacement fobs and confirm every button works before you leave. Need a key fob replacement because yours is broken or worn? We supply and program it.

Smart / push-to-start keys

Proximity and push-to-start keys communicate with the car without being inserted. We handle push to start key replacement and programming of smart keys, including adding keys to the car's immobilizer system.

Transponder chip keys

Most cars since the late 1990s have a chip in the key that the immobilizer must recognize, or the engine won't start. Transponder key programming pairs the chip with your car.

Spare key / duplicate

Having only one key is risky. A spare key made while you still have a working one is usually simpler than replacing all lost keys later. We duplicate and program spares for most vehicles.

Key cutting

We cut keys, so the new key fits your doors and ignition as well as starting the car.

How your key and immobilizer work together

Every modern car key carries an electronic identity. When you turn the key or press the start button, the car's immobilizer sends a challenge, and the key must answer with the right code before the engine is allowed to run. On many cars, that key data is shared between several modules, such as the engine computer, the body module and the steering lock. That's why a key that fits the lock still won't start the car until it's programmed. It's also why proper diagnostic equipment matters: when a key isn't recognized, the cause may be the key, its battery, the antenna around the ignition or a module that has lost its key data.

Lost all your keys?

If you don't have any working key, the job is different: we make a new key from scratch and program it to your car, and erase the lost keys so they can't be used. See our lost car keys / all keys lost service.

Dealer vs us: time & convenience

Many drivers assume car key replacement has to go through the dealer. For most cars it doesn't. Working with us means:

  • No dealer service-lane wait — you deal directly with the shop doing the work and can call Viktor with questions.
  • Cutting and programming in one place — no shuttling between a parts counter and a service department.
  • A local shop — easy to reach from across the south Denver metro.
  • Most makes in one shop — useful if your household has cars from different brands.

For shops & dealers

We offer key programming for used-car dealers and repair shops. If you need dealer key programming service for trade-ins that came with one key, all-keys-lost situations on auction cars, or spare keys before resale, bring the vehicle to our shop. Used car dealer key programming and key programming for dealers is handled at our location — we don't make mobile visits. Call Viktor to discuss the vehicles and volume you have.

Four reasons to choose our shop for car key programming: no dealer service-lane wait, cutting and programming in one place, a local south Denver shop, and most makes in one shop.

What to bring

To protect owners from theft, we verify ownership before making or programming a key. Please bring:

  • All existing keys and fobs for the car — so we can test them and program everything together (on many cars, adding a key requires the working keys present)
  • A valid photo ID
  • Proof of ownership or authorization — registration, title or bill of sale

Pricing: depends on key type & make

Key pricing depends on the key type (basic transponder, remote fob or smart key), your car's make, model and year, whether the key needs cutting, and whether you're adding a spare or replacing all lost keys. All-keys-lost jobs typically run $300–$1,000+, depending on the vehicle, key/fob cost, security system and required access; any required OEM, security-system, code retrieval or third-party access fees are additional and included in the final service cost. We check your vehicle and quote before we start.

Checklist for key programming: bring all existing keys and fobs, a valid photo ID, and proof of ownership or authorization such as registration, title or bill of sale.

Most makes; German smart keys

We program keys for most makes, and German cars are our specialty:

  • BMW
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Audi
  • Volkswagen
  • Porsche

German smart key systems are tightly tied to the car's immobilizer and modules, which is where our module programming background helps. Our technicians are OEM manufacturer-certified. Please note: we currently do not make or add keys for Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the FBS4 key system (roughly 2015 and newer).

If a key issue turns out to be an immobilizer or module fault, we handle that too — see module programming.

Programming capabilities for newer European vehicles, particularly certain Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW platforms, may be more limited and must be verified for the specific vehicle and requested service — contact us with your VIN and we'll confirm support before scheduling an appointment.

FAQ

How long does key programming take?

It depends on the car and key type. Spare keys are usually faster than all-keys-lost jobs, which can take from about 1 hour to 1–2 business days depending on the vehicle, security system and key availability — see lost car keys.

Do I need all my keys?

Bring every key you have. On many cars, all keys are reprogrammed together, and any key not present may stop working afterward. If you have no keys at all, see lost car keys.

Do you cut keys?

Yes. We cut keys and program the chip or fob so the key both fits and starts the car.

Is it cheaper than the dealer?

Pricing depends on your key type and car, so we quote after checking your vehicle. Beyond price, many customers come to us for the convenience: one local shop, cutting and programming in one visit, and a direct line to the technician.

Can you program a key fob I already have?

Yes. If you already have a key or key fob, we can program it as long as it is compatible with your vehicle's key and immobilizer system and supports the required programming procedure. Compatibility must be verified before programming. Some keys or key fobs may not be programmable to a particular vehicle or may have already been locked to another vehicle.

Do you repair lock or ignition cylinders?

No. We primarily specialize in electronic and wireless automotive key services, including key fob programming, smart/proximity keys, adding additional keys, and All Keys Lost programming for supported vehicles. We do not normally repair or replace mechanical lock cylinders or ignition lock cylinders.

Why won't my car recognize my key?

Common causes are a weak battery in the fob, a damaged transponder chip, a faulty antenna or receiver in the car, or key data lost from a module. We test the key and the car's immobilizer system to find which one it is before replacing anything.

Do you program push-to-start keys?

Yes. We program smart / proximity push-to-start keys for most makes, including German smart keys. The exception is Mercedes-Benz with the FBS4 key system (roughly 2015 and newer), which we currently don't take.
